Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Carinthia
Reptilienzoo Happ is Austria's most species-rich reptile zoo and offers a loving home to over 1,000 animals in total. The zoo's attractions include 20 different lizard species, 60 snake species, 20 turtle species, piranhas, and an insectarium with tarantulas and scorpions. The facility features mambas, cobras, rattlesnakes, monitor lizards, iguanas, and agamas, as well as giant tortoises, crocodiles, and native snakes. At Happ, visitors can learn a lot about the lives of exotic and Austrian native snakes and lizards. Fear of contact and an exaggerated fear of snakes can be best overcome with one's own hands during a lecture. Another attraction at the reptile zoo is the feeding of crocodiles and turtles on Saturday afternoons. Dogs are also allowed in Reptilienzoo Happ, as long as they are kept on a leash. Ample parking is available practically right in front of the zoo's entrance.
