What's it about?

In Bertolt Brecht's play "Mann ist Mann" from 1926, it is tested how people, along with their attitudes, can be shaped arbitrarily. The worker Galy Gay is transformed into a ruthless fighting machine within a week. Robert Misik examines in "Erziehung zur Grausamkeit" (Education for Cruelty) the mass psychology of the new fascism. The incited individual does not fall from the sky. It is made. The agitation fuels anger, feelings of bitterness, aims to turn its followers into completely paranoid characters, nurtures a cult of hardness, joy in meanness, fantasies about all kinds of cruelties that could be inflicted on others. These are apprenticeship years of inhumanity. Robert Misik analyzes not only which characters are particularly susceptible to authoritarianism and which pathologies of our time favor the rise of the radical right, but also: What happens to people when they fall into the grip of propaganda? This evening, Robert Misik is a guest at the Lagerbaracke Wagna and discusses his insights with Mayor Peter Stradner. The audience is also warmly invited in the second part of the evening to ask questions and participate in a discussion.
