The Vienna Boys' Choir is world-famous, traditional, and at the same time surprisingly modern. With their new program "World Hits," they will perform on March 18, 2027, in Fürstenfeld and invite the audience on a musical journey around the globe – full of great emotions, unforgettable melodies, and impressive sound culture. For more than 525 years, the Vienna Boys' Choir has delighted people on all continents. What began in 1498 by order of Emperor Maximilian I as a court chapel in Vienna has developed into one of the most renowned boys' choirs in the world and a cultural symbol of Austria. Generations of prominent composers and musicians – including Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert – are closely connected to the choir's history. With "World Hits," the Vienna Boys' Choir showcases their particularly versatile side. The concert program combines masterpieces of classical music with world-famous songs from opera, film, and pop culture. Among others, listeners will hear the moving "Ode to Joy" from Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony, the monumental "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana," and the famous chorus of prisoners "Va, pensiero" from Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Nabucco." Additionally, the choir bridges to popular music: with "Time to Say Goodbye," the traditional "Auld Lang Syne," and legendary ABBA hits like "Thank You for the Music" and "Mamma Mia," they demonstrate their musical versatility and distinctive choral sound. What makes the Vienna Boys' Choir unique for centuries is their special sound aesthetic: bright, clear boy soprano voices, musical precision, and the palpable joy of making music together. This is complemented by a special charisma of discipline, naturalness, and youthful charm, making their concerts an experience for listeners of all generations.
