Almabtrieb from the Mönichwalder Schwaig

What's it about?

The transition from summer to autumn is heralded in Joglland with the traditional Almabtrieb (driving cattle down from mountain pastures) on September 6th from Hochwechsel. The animals, which receive their adornments at the Kaltwiesenhütte, are driven to the "Almwiese Ehrenhöfer Ludwig" where they receive their crowns. There, visitors can expect lively music at the official ceremony at 2 PM, and traditional groups will provide entertainment. This Almabtrieb, always accompanied by many onlookers, is organized by the Bauernbund, the Katholische Landjugend, and the Weidegemeinschaft Mönichwald.
