What's it about?

Wiener Sängerknaben Niccolò Morello: Conductor One of the most famous and oldest choirs in the world performs in Vorau: The Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boys' Choir) look back on a long tradition. Boys have been singing in the Vienna Hofburg Chapel since the 13th century. In 1498, Maximilian I moved his court, including the chapel, to Vienna. Musicians such as Mozart, Salieri, and Bruckner worked at the Viennese court; Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert sang as boys in the Hofmusikkapelle. Today there are around 90 Wiener Sängerknaben, divided into four choirs. Together, the choirs give almost 300 concerts a year to nearly half a million spectators worldwide. Since 1924, they have sung around 29,000 concerts on more than 1,000 tours in 100 countries. Erasmus Baumgartner is the Artistic Director of the entire Campus Augarten, and Erich Arthold is the President of the association. Under the direction of the Italian musician, pianist, and conductor Niccolò Morello, who has been choirmaster of the Schubert Choir of the Wiener Sängerknaben since March 2025, the boys' choir performs an impressive program in the Vorau Abbey Church. Under the title "Made in Austria," well-known works by Johann Strauss Jr. will be performed, including the waltz "An der schönen blauen Donau" (On the Beautiful Blue Danube) or the "Kaiserwalzer" (Emperor Waltz), the song "When You Wish upon a Star" from the Walt Disney film "Pinocchio," and "Vienna" by Billy Joel. Immerse yourself in this breathtaking concert experience, unsurpassed in choral diversity.
