BLUTSPENDEAKTION des Roten Kreuzes

What's it about?

Donate blood and become a lifesaver! 450 milliliters of blood: sometimes, that's all it takes to save a life. The only thing needed for that is a person who has donated this blood. In our veins flows one of the most important emergency medicines: blood saves lives after accidents, during surgeries, and also in cancer therapy. It is an irreplaceable medicine that cannot be artificially produced. In Austria, a blood donation is needed every 90 seconds – about 1,000 units daily. To ensure an adequate supply of blood units, ongoing commitment from donors is necessary. Lifesaving help from person to person Without blood units, even minor injuries and many surgeries could be life-threatening. Modern cancer therapy would also be unthinkable without blood donations. Each blood donation is therefore the most valuable gift for people whose lives depend on blood supplies. And the best part: saving lives with a blood donation is very simple. From filling out the health questionnaire to enjoying a snack after donating blood, it takes less than thirty minutes. The Red Cross blood donation service operates throughout Styria. You can always find a blood donation event near you. Roll up your sleeve and save lives If you are at least 18 years old, healthy, and weigh more than 50 kg, you can roll up your sleeve at the next blood donation and become a lifesaver. Your blood donation also benefits you: all donors receive a health check-up. In addition to blood pressure and body temperature, heart rate and blood count are also checked. All information about blood donation and upcoming donation events near you can be found at: www.blut.at and www.gibdeinbestes.at. You can also get information from our free service hotline at 0800 190 190.
