Voodoo Jürgens & Die Ansa Panier - Das Krampuskränzchen
What's it about?
Gschnas is the fourth Voodoo Jürgens album. A new phase of Voodoo Jürgens' work. Three years after the masterpiece 'Wie die Nocht noch jung wor', he returns as an unwilling pop star. Last year, he won the Austrian Film Award for Best Actor for his lead role in Adrian Goiginger's film hit 'Rickerl'. His previous albums received numerous Amadeus Awards, Austria's Grammys, and all his tours across the German-speaking world are regularly sold out. Now, it was time for a new self-assessment. The Biotop Beisl was yesterday. Especially because many Voodoo epigones have been eager to show off for years. Now, it’s about the wide world waiting out there. And the little one inside: in the soul. In both lyrics and sound, Gschnas for Voodoo is about personal autonomy, the rebirth of inspiration, breaking free from the typically Austrian narrowness that presses down on you. In short: it’s about everything. With what energy he and his on-fire band ride this daring album, with what joy and confidence a musician rethinks without abandoning what he has uncovered and revitalizes himself. Exorcism at the open heart, basically, and we are live witnesses! Plus his best melodies, his most genuine lyrics, his most urgent performances, and a Wolfgang Lehman (AKA Möstl) production that smells like a Magnum Opus for everyone involved. This is something. And not only that. An album born from doubt, for which in the end, carnival donuts rain down. An event album, in a time that has forgotten itself. 'And everyone should get something out of it!' Voodoo calls out to us in perhaps the most successful song of his career, summoning us. A self-fulfilling prophecy. Or also: Voodoo magic that works and works and works...!
