What's it about?

The main focus of this beginner's workshop is on teaching the basic steps. The most important steps and sounds, as well as one of the best-known and most popular step combinations, will be learned in a playful way. There will also be room to incorporate your own ideas and improvisations into the dance sequences. History of Tap Dance:American tap dance originated in the 19th century in the USA from a fusion of the dance styles of Irish immigrants and West African slaves – these worked on the plantations of the Southern states and were punished if they used drums, so they began instead to express the complex rhythms of their cultures by stamping their feet and their bodies. The Irish dancers brought the precise footwork, while the African American styles brought complex rhythms and improvisations. Artists like Bill "Bojangles" Robinson shaped the dance in Hollywood films and the jazz clubs of the 1930s.
