What's it about?
As part of a large-scale infrastructure project, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG is upgrading and electrifying the railway line from Wiener Neustadt via Mattersburg to Loipersbach-Schattendorf. The main construction works have been ongoing since October 2025. From February 9 to December 12, 2026, the entire railway line between Wiener Neustadt and Loipersbach-Schattendorf will be closed, and a replacement bus service will be provided. Starting from approximately December 2027, trains on this route are expected to run entirely on green railway electricity. In the future, a direct train connection to Vienna without changing trains in Wiener Neustadt will also be possible.
