What's it about?

Heinz Lackinger offers special pottery courses. The work is done using prehistoric techniques, without a potter's wheel. Prehistoric pottery begins by following a stream to find something that is finer than scree and sand, different from mud and earth, feels soft and malleable, and turns into a waterproof mass in fire: clay. And since every landscape has its own clay, every fire its own quality, plus the personal touch of the potter, no two prehistoric clay vessels are alike. Each is the sum of human experience from a direct, sensual learning from nature, landscape, clay, and fire. During our extensive hikes, we explore special places in a landscape around Donnerskirchen, search for clays and earth colors, and make our vessels glow in an open fire.
