It served for orientation and for real everyday life management. But it was much more than that. It was considered a model of life itself. Because everything that happened out there in nature was made by the people. Thus, the sacred circle of nature was seen as a symbol of human life. Humans are also part of these natural cycles. Each direction can be seen as a place or quality - perhaps even as a challenge of inner processes. Through steady and truthful movement through these qualities, we can observe human developmental phases and their respective tasks.
