Genåndr in der Eewesa: The Ötztal dialect and its peculiarities The Ötztal dialect – alongside the Zillertal dialect – is often cited as a particularly characteristic dialect. No wonder: In the Ötztal, there are many sounds and words that are rarely or never heard elsewhere. So, if you are genåndr in der Eewesa, you must be proficient in the Ötztal dialect to be able to converse. This also applies, of course, to other Tyrolean dialects, especially those from more remote regions. There, dialects have changed more slowly than in areas along important transport routes, which were more influenced from outside. We want to explore what makes the Ötztal dialect special, what it has in common with other dialects from remote areas – and what its future might hold. For organizational reasons, we kindly request registration. However, if someone wishes to come spontaneously, everyone is, of course, warmly welcome.
