What's it about?
It is March 2020 and the start of a supposed world trip hitchhiking to the Olympic Games in Japan. Everything is carefully planned. But then everything turns out differently. "Hitchhiking to Japan" is a somewhat different adventure journey by photographer Bastian Maria and his partner Viviane. A report on plan changes, unique encounters, and the daring hitchhiking through 12 countries. Over 10,000 km. They started with unlimited time, but after 1.5 years, their trip takes a sudden turn. Look forward to a live lecture full of personality and the courage to try new things. At the borders of personal comfort zones. In his multimedia lecture, Bastian Maria shares personal impressions of his 1.5-year world trip through images, videos, and stories. Bastian takes us on journeys and reports, among other things, on working as a volunteer on a horse ranch in Cappadocia, how he and Viviane met traditional eagle hunters in Kyrgyzstan, and why both of them were arrested by the Pakistani police in Multan. We learn which situations brought Bastian and Viviane, as hitchhikers and couchsurfers, repeatedly to the limits of their personal comfort zones in countries like Turkey or Sri Lanka. With the motto 'Travel is the best way to spend money and still become richer,' Bastian shares in the lecture 'Hitchhiking to Japan' how it was possible to travel the world with 3 euros a day.
