What's it about?

The Karwendel Nature Park is the largest nature park in Austria and the largest protected area in Tyrol, known for the Großer Ahornboden and the source of the Isar. The most recent expansion now also includes the Arnspitze nature reserve around Leutasch. The main areas of work of the nature park are nature conservation, recreation & tourism, environmental education, and knowledge & research, but also a diverse program of lectures and excursions at the Scharnitz Nature Park Info Center is on the agenda! Program on 17.09.2026:The bearded vulture, one of the most fascinating birds of prey in the Alps, is returning to its original habitats after more than a hundred years. The lecture provides an overview of the biology and way of life of this species, its reliable identification, and the history and development of the reintroduction project in the Alps. Based on current data, population development, breeding success, and influencing factors on the population in North Tyrol will also be presented.No registration required...
