What's it about?

From 1550 onwards, a conspicuously high number of women operated print shops in the Holy Roman Empire. This paper will provide an initial overview of the women’s knowledge, their literacy skills, and their activities in the book trade, introducing the various archival sources that can be used to reconstruct the biographies of these women.
