Festgottesdienst, anschl. Prangtag mit Prangstangenprozession

What's it about?

The festival day begins with a festive church service at the Parish Church of Saint Rupert. Afterwards, the Prangstangen (poles decorated for the festival) are carried through the town in a ceremonial procession. The Prangstangen remain in the parish church until August 15th and are returned to the Binder families after the herb blessing. The blessed herbs are used as incense during the Rauhnächte (twilight nights) between Christmas and Epiphany.
