What's it about?

AT, DE | 2026 | Feature film | 110 minutes | Director: Markus Schleinzer The brilliant Sandra Hüller in a timeless parable, especially valuable! The historical drama is set in the 17th century and tells the story of a woman who, disguised as a male soldier, hopes to integrate into a remote village community. With freedom as the main theme, the film is profoundly moving, especially considering that the male identity of the protagonist is only a means to escape the social boundaries of her gender. In the chaos of the Thirty Years' War, a mysterious soldier appears in a secluded Protestant village. Silent, slender, with a face disfigured by a scar. The stranger claims to be the heir of a long-abandoned estate and can produce a document confirming his claim...
