St. Michael, Salzburg
In the 9th or 10th century, the first church was probably built in St. Michael an der Stelle of a pre-Christian cultural site. After its decay around 1100, the new Michaelskirche was constructed in 1147 and mentioned in documents for the first time. Around 1500, the parish church was expanded with the nave and reconsecrated in 1513 together with the filial church of St. Martin. The octagonal Karner (mortuary chapel) near the church, known as the Wolfgangskapelle, likely dates back to the 14th century.
