What's it about?

Ashtanga yoga is a philosophy of life, a way of living, a journey whose goal is to find oneself. The Sanskrit word "Yoga" means "to connect," referring to the connection of body, mind, and soul. "Ashtanga" means eight-limbed path. One of these limbs is the physical exercises (Asanas). These exercises are linked through dynamic movement elements (Vinyasa). The foundation of the entire system is a special, deep breathing technique (Ujjayi breathing) — each Asana is guided by the breath. Additionally, specific muscle locks (Bandhas) are held to strengthen our core and facilitate balance. Points of focus (Drishtis) help us stay concentrated. Through the dynamism of yoga, we achieve an optimal heating of the body, which helps us stretch and cleanse. At the same time, through concentration, meditation, and even breathing, we aim to restore balance to body, mind, and soul.
