Pfarrkirche Hl. Erasmus

Pfarrkirche Hl. Erasmus

Fuschl am See, Salzburg

The people of Fuschl therefore had to make the long journey to Thalgau for Sunday parish service, and the faithful were also pastorally cared for from there. The dead had to be buried in the Thalgau cemetery. The desire for their own house of worship had often been voiced. However, the poverty of the population and the resistance of the responsible Thalgau parish made a church building unthinkable. The actual start of construction of a church was delayed until 1804 due to disagreement over the location, but also due to limited financial resources. Fires: July 6, 1870 - lightning strike on the church spire, no major damage; June 10, 1880 - another lightning strike on the church tower; the church was in flames; destroyed were: church tower, altars, sculptures, the roof of the nave collapsed. It is dedicated to Saint Erasmus, who is celebrated on June 2 (patron saint's day). From 1973 to August 2003, GR Wolfgang Peschke served as pastor in the parish of Fuschl am See. Since September 2016, parish administrator Father Joachim Hagel O.Praem. has served as chaplain in St. Erasmus. Ms. Birgit Schedl holds the position of pastoral assistant. Angelika Leitner is available as a parish helper. Directly in the town center in Fuschl am See
