In 2026, the Braunau District Waste Association will again carry out the free agricultural film collection for agricultural businesses. It ensures that silage films, wrapping nets and strings do not end up just anywhere – but are properly recycled. For the collection to remain efficient in the long term, some organizational adjustments are necessary this year. "Clean and careful preparation of the materials is crucial. The better sorted the delivery, the easier and more cost-effective it is to recycle," says the chairman of the BAV, Erich Priewasser – himself a farmer and mayor of the municipality of Höhnhart. What is collected – and how? Agricultural films: Deliver clean, swept clean and free of foreign matter. Absolutely collect separately – this enables high-quality recycling. No disposal in the yellow bag. Private burning is prohibited and endangers climate and health. Nets & strings: Deliver exclusively in transparent, tied bags. Suitable bags are available directly at the collection points. Loose strings and nets are a big problem in recycling. According to the operators of the Wels waste incineration plant, they cannot be delivered together with household or bulky waste. They act like fuses during incineration and pose a risk of backfire in the waste bunker. When is what collected? Agricultural film collections take place twice a year, in spring and autumn. In addition, a separate collection for nets and strings is offered in summer.
