What's it about?
The Trained Man by John von Düffel, based on the bestseller of the same name by Esther Vilar. Vilar turns the tables. She claims: It is not men who oppress women, but women who have been training men for centuries. Women use sex, love, and the mother role as means of power. In return, they are supported and cared for. Men work, wage war, pay - and receive 'affection' and sex for it. So, they are the real 'slaves'. 'The man is trained like a pet. He believes he is free but is dependent.' The book caused a huge scandal in 1971. Hated by feminists, celebrated by men. Still highly controversial today. It presents a provocative thesis that the traditional gender roles favor women and exploit men. It remains a provocative bestseller. The advance ticket price is 16 euros, 18 euros at the door.
