An evening with Dr. Pichler — she holds a doctorate on none other than Gerhard Polt — combines sharp social observations with delightfully dry humor. You don't have to be in a boxing ring to get hit. Life constantly delivers liver hooks, stomach swings, and slapshots. Sudden illness, dad dying, relationship drama, and even the hamster coughing are all cause for concern. You constantly have to make consequential decisions and are already hopelessly overwhelmed by everyday questions like buying a new toilet seat. Not to mention global crises! How are you supposed to deal with all that? Certainly not alone. Humans are social beings and function best in cooperation. That’s why loneliness is one of the threatening diseases of our civilization today. Everyone knows it, no one likes to talk about it. It lurks behind every corner, after a failed Tinder date, a terminated friendship, or in the next perfect social media feed. Because the grass on the other side always seems greener — now at least legally. Resilience is the magic word, because not every crisis can be answered with a Konterbier (counter-beer). Especially not if a sudden histamine intolerance ruins the beer enjoyment. No beer, no pork roast — what remains of Bavarian identity? Quite a lot, as Claudia Pichler proves on stage, with profound insights, wonderful nonsense, hair-raising outrages, and funny songs. Because when times get darker, humor also becomes darker and more necessary than ever. An evening full of charm, satire, and spot-on observations.
