Blue and Lonesome is a band that brings the authentic sound world of bluegrass, gospel, and folk to the stage. Their music is a tribute to great traditions, with honest harmonies and pure joy in playing. The group's three-part vocals blend seamlessly with solid instrumental accompaniment. This music is more than sound; it is a journey, a story, a feeling that the band expresses with great verve and skill. Irish sounds, ancestors of the "Americana" genre, are also not neglected at Blue and Lonesome concerts. Line-up: Gerhard Saller: Bandleader, classical guitar training, studied fusion/bebop at the Munich Guitar Institute, various workshops: Gypsy Swing with Joscho Stephan, Camp Bluegrass Flatpick with Tim May in Texas, Irish Guitar with Eckhart Topp, Irish Music Ensemble Workshop with Alan Doherty, etc. Philipp Schöppe: Mandolin player and singer of the group, sometimes also plays guitar and violin. Besides the great mandolin icons like David Grisman or Sam Bush, his heart beats for the songs of Bob Dylan and Townes van Zandt. He has found his home in traditional American folk music - his passion has long been bluegrass - but he is equally fond of other musical styles. Sarah Nitsch: Double bassist of Blue and Lonesome, additionally tops the band with her voice and her winning manner.
