That the waltz-drunk "Duidu, Duidu" and its relaxed counterpart "Dudidubidu" are actually only a short hop, not much more than "a warm embracing dance away" from each other — this has been clear to the masters of Mnozil Brass for a long time. For over thirty years, the seven virtuosos have been effortlessly moving between Johann Strauss and Frank Sinatra, between Shostakovich and Prince, or passionately from Schubert to their kindred spirits from Queen, with their sparkling brass instruments. The sacred grandeur of one side matters as little to them as the supposed banality of the other. But Strauss — whom both Brahms, Wagner, and Verdi, as well as craftsmen and girls from the suburbs (and even Gershwin) revered passionately — was the pioneer of nonchalant flirtation between the stools. Strauss was the first to produce hits at a rapid pace, he hired an arranger to work faster, and he realized that with his brothers he could reproduce his sound worldwide. He was the first to break through the E and U, and as the Waltz King, he became a mass phenomenon — never before had the cash registers rung so sweetly. In Strau$$, Mnozil Brass now reveals everything about Strauss. Even the last. In the end, nothing remains but the naked truth. A project commissioned by Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna.
