MADONNA: (West shore, approx. 1.5 km south of Traunkirchen village) After Traunkirchen, between the first two Sonnstein tunnels, a Madonna statue can be found on a small promontory. Here you can dive along a steep wall until you reach a plateau at a depth of approx. 20 m. After that, the wall drops to approx. 120 m. SEEHOTEL DAS TRAUNSEE: (West shore in Traunkirchen village) At a depth of 5m there is a training platform equipped with a railing. At a depth of 10 meters, you suddenly encounter a very unusual diving dome – automotive connoisseurs will discover certain similarities to the roof of a very well-known vehicle. LÖWENDENKMAL: (West shore, between Ebensee and Traunkirchen) Here, a steep, cut wall extends to a depth of approx. 120m. MIESWEG: (East shore, only accessible by boat) Directly below the 1,691 m high Traunstein, a steep wall leads to a depth of over 100m. This spot can only be dived as a boat dive with full equipment. WEISSER STEINBRUCH: (East shore, only accessible by boat) Here, a vertically dropping steep wall yawns 160m deep. EISENAU: (East shore, only accessible by boat) A beautiful small bay where a guesthouse used to await guests (only the wall of the guest garden is still visible). Particularly charming here are steep wall overhangs that begin at a depth of 1 m and extend several meters into the wall. If you continue diving south, you will reach a workboat at a depth of 20m, which sank there about 50 years ago. DIE MAUER: (East shore, only accessible by boat) A graceful place that is attractive not only because of its steep wall. HUNDSGRABEN: (East shore, only accessible by boat) The small bay in the shape of a shark fin boasts features such as an echo wall and an underwater grotto. FLEDERMAUSBUCHT: (East shore, only accessible by boat) Underwater portal at 9m, steep walls, KARBACH: (East shore, only accessible by boat) The peninsula is probably the ideal dive site on the east shore – also for groups. A small shallow diving area also allows inexperienced divers the opportunity to indulge in the most beautiful underwater hobby. To the south, a steep wall (partly with overhangs) with vertical drops connects. Zebra mussels adorn – as with almost all walls in the east shore area – the steeply sloping walls. In the area of the Karbach bay, tree trunks also protrude into the dark, and small boat wrecks offer shelter to perch and minnows. Above water, this dream spot spoils with a small snack station.
