Franz Schubert: from the German Dances Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Lento religioso from the Symphonic Serenade op. 39 Hugo Wolf: Italian Serenade Johannes Brahms: from the Liebeslieder-Walzer op. 52 Oscar Straus: Serenade for Strings op. 35 Following the example of the legendary Vienna Soloists of the 1960s, young members of the Vienna Philharmonic and internationally sought-after soloists and chamber musicians from the Viennese music scene formed a powerful and dynamic string ensemble in 2018. The goal and motivation of the Neue Wiener Solisten was and is to explore the rich repertoire for strings from Baroque to modern at the highest level, combining the virtuoso brilliance of the individual members with a homogeneous overall sound. In this sense, all musicians also appear as soloists depending on the repertoire. This matinee focuses on composers who were closely associated with the Salzkammergut. The program spans from dance-like lightness to lyrical intimacy. A morning that combines Viennese sound tradition, stylistic diversity, and chamber music precision.
