What's it about?

When Querschläger began their musical journey in Lungau in 1990, it was not yet foreseeable that they would become one of the most distinctive formations in the local music scene. What started as an insider tip developed over more than three decades, over 900 concerts, and countless stages into a cult band that consistently defies categorization. Independent of record labels and fashionable trends, Querschläger have developed their very own style: dialect music with lyrical depth, combined with musical cabaret, fine humor, and surprising seriousness. Characteristic is the deliberate clash of opposites - musically, linguistically, and in content - from which something unique of great emotional power emerges. In their songs, familiar musical fragments from blues, rock, folk, and folk music are recontextualized and filled with stories, characters, and observations from everyday life. The concept of "Heimat" (home) is repeatedly at the center - between idyll and reality, melancholy and analysis, satire and seriousness. All of this is presented in the Lungau Innergebirgs dialect, without a raised finger, but with great closeness to people. Live, this universe unfolds its full power: with almost 30 instruments, connected by the legendary "Gschichtln" (stories) of singer Fritz Messner, the boundaries between concert and cabaret blur. An evening between laughter and reflection - and a Querschläger concert in the best sense.
