We encompasses the knowledge and ideas of all generations before us. We here and now are only the youngest in an infinite series of annual rings, each of which has its story to tell. And with that, we come to the Now. For the seven musicians, this means: the right timing, the right moment and the magic of the moment of each performance. Because this narrow strip between past and future is the only room for maneuver we have left. Us as artists, as people, as humanity. Only in the Now are we. Only in the Now can we act, move things and people. These ideas inspired Federspiel to their new program: Wir und Jetzt sets the great questions of our time to music. It is an appeal to tackle the urgent problems of our planet together and right now. But Wir und Jetzt also promises to stop time with music in the moment of the concert and to establish a connection with the audience that touches everyone and ideally changes them. The means of the mixed brass ensemble have matured after more than two decades: inclusion instead of demonstration, light-footed virtuosity instead of ostentatious acrobatics. Renunciation of a hawkish habitus, but instead thought-provoking and touching compositions. That is what distinguishes Federspiel. And that is exactly what Wir und Jetzt is. Federspiel Go ahead and say brass band! But what the gentlemen of Federspiel bring to the stage probably refutes most expectations that the word brings with it. Nevertheless, they are, go ahead and say it: a brass band. But one of the extra class, which, elegantly like few other things, combines new and traditional, played and sung, lightness and depth in their playing. As an artistic heavyweight with feather-light compositions in their luggage, Federspiel has long been playing on the big concert stages worldwide. Their appearances have taken them from Scandinavia to Egypt and from the USA back to the beautiful Wachau, where the ensemble was founded in 2004. In hundreds of concerts - from the noble philharmonic hall to the rustic inn hall - Federspiel developed its own sound language in the tension between tradition and modernity and established itself as one of the most innovative sound bodies in the European brass music scene. Pioneering and yet always full of respect, the ensemble weaves influences from the Nordic music tradition with Alpine repertoire, percussive playing styles with electronic sounds, to create something new - contemporary music that bows as reverently to its past as it boldly projects itself into the future.
