ASKÖ Attic Archers Wels

Since March 2023, a new training opportunity for archers has been available in the renovated attic of a more than 100-year-old Vierkanthof (four-sided farm) in Wels Wimpassing. At the classic indoor distance of 18 m, archery enthusiasts of all disciplines can let their arrows fly there. At the "ASKÖ Attic Archers Wels", as the club founded in February 2023 calls itself, targets for Olympic Recurve, Traditional, Barebow, and Compound await accurate shooters. The natural attic not only offers a great atmosphere, but it also fills a gap in Wels' archery offerings, as weather-proof training facilities are not to be found here. At the Attic Archers' attic, training can now take place in any weather and at any time of year. "Training times are currently Monday and Wednesday, but individual appointments are also possible by arrangement," explains Andreas Hochmair, the club chairman. The initiators are all enthusiastic hobby and competition shooters who are happy to assist newcomers with advice and practical help. Of course, beginner and re-entry courses are also offered. "We also plan to present our offer to the neighboring schools to get the kids excited about archery and possibly win over one or two talents for us," says Hochmair. An outdoor facility for distances of up to 70 m is also planned. At the moment, the Attic Archers are scouting suitable plots of land for this. With a bit of luck, the first arrows will fly at Olympic distance in the summer season of 2025. Day members are of course also welcome, but must make an appointment and pay a target fee of 10 € per person. By the way, you don't need any prior knowledge if you want to join us.
