What's it about?

The Malort and the Malspiel are based on research and experiences by Arno Stern. Over many years of working with children, he observed that children assemble their pictures from the same peculiar figures. During numerous research trips to sometimes very remote parts of the world (Peru, Guatemala, Niger, New Guinea, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mexico, etc.), he found the same formations in children who were pedagogically uninfluenced, in the same sequence. He called this phenomenon "Formulation," a drawing structure inherent in all humans.
