What's it about?

In a 'root place' in the Carpathians, daughter, mother, and grandmother come together. Three brilliant actresses seek understanding in different languages and dialects, including Zipserisch (Spiš dialect), with hammered dulcimer and choral singing also among their means of expression. In this multiple award-winning piece, German-Austrian-Hungarian-Romanian biographies and fates are woven into the political upheavals and histories of violence over the centuries. With concise, precise dialogues, a broad historical arc is drawn, from the 'Teitschen' (German) immigration to the region during the 18th century, through National Socialism, the fall of Ceausescu, and the longing for a different life in the West.
