What's it about?

The motivation to repair used items and textiles can vary greatly: to avoid purchasing new items for cost reasons, to conserve raw material and energy resources in production for new goods and waste for environmental reasons, or simply because one has grown attached to personal belongings and they may no longer be available as new in stores. All of this can apply to a leather jacket, an old turntable, furniture, toys, or a trusted kitchen machine, among others. Whatever your personal reason for attempting a repair, in most cases it is worth trying, and only if nothing can be saved, it is better to recycle in the spirit of the circular economy. Visitors of a Repair Café meet like-minded people, exchange experiences about technical and craft problems, and all of this is free of charge with coffee and cake in a relaxed environment.
