What's it about?

Fifty years, over nine billion streams, and a repertoire that continues to reach younger generations: As part of their 50th Anniversary Tour, Toto will perform an open-air show at Burg Clam on July 23, 2027. Wizard Live presents Toto in July 2027 on seven open-air stages in Germany. The stops include Bremen, Mainz, Balingen, Bonn, Regensburg, Konstanz, and Northeim. The tour marks the 50th anniversary of a band that started on January 7, 1977, with their first joint session at the Davlen Studios in North Hollywood, California — and whose music now reaches more people than ever before. With cumulative streams of over nine billion plays across all digital platforms, more than 800,000 concert attendees in 2025 and 2026, and a demonstrably younger fan base, Toto will be at the peak of their streaming era in 2027. Toto is among the most streamed rock bands in the world. "Africa" has surpassed two billion streams on Spotify and was awarded diamond status by the RIAA — ten million units sold, with total sales approaching eleven million. "Hold The Line" has over one billion streams and is triple platinum (RIAA). The streaming volume is distributed across the entire catalog: "I’ll Be Over You," "Georgy Porgy," "I Won’t Hold You Back," "Rosanna," and other titles regularly generate several hundred thousand to over a million plays per month. Total album sales exceed 50 million copies. The numbers are also reflected in the live audience: more than half of the one billion streams annually come from listeners under 34 years old. Night after night, three generations meet in the audience — a phenomenon the band itself describes as a central driver for continuing touring. The current lineup is led by bandleader Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals) and Joseph Williams (vocals), along with Warren Ham (woodwinds, percussion, vocals), John Pierce (bass), Keith Carlock (drums), Dennis Atlas (keyboards, vocals), and Rai Thistlethwayte (keyboards, vocals). The 50th Anniversary Tour spans from their debut album (1978) through the six-time Grammy-winning Toto IV (1982) — including "Record of the Year" for "Rosanna" and "Album of the Year" — to their more recent catalog. Seven carefully selected open-air venues in Germany frame a program that showcases the band at the height of their streaming popularity: the Seebühne Bremen, the Zitadelle Mainz, the Marktplatz Balingen, the Kunst!Rasen Bonn, the Open Air at Jahnstadion Regensburg, Klein Venedig Konstanz, and the Waldbühne Northeim form the German leg of a jubilee tour that condenses 50 years of band history into unique concert evenings. Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals): "From the very beginning of our career, Germany has supported Toto. There is mutual affection between us and the whole country. I can’t wait to give them a great show with Joe, myself, and a band of world-class musicians. It will be a fantastic time for everyone at the venues in summer 2027."
