Come with your own fruit and have it identified! There are about 2,000 apple varieties alone in Upper Austria. Many of them are hardly known anymore. On Friday, October 2, 2026, everything at Pankrazhofer will revolve around this special diversity. In cooperation with the Settlers' Association Pregarten, a variety identification will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. with DI Andreas Huch. Visitors can bring their own apples and pears and find out which variety is growing in their garden. Based on shape, color, skin, flesh, and other features, the expert will identify the fruits and provide insights into the world of fruit varieties. Andreas has himself 50 different varieties with him and warmly invites everyone to taste and discover the diversity! Additionally: The orchard trail around Pankrazhofer invites visitors to learn about the diversity of the orchard meadow. The information boards cover old fruit varieties, biodiversity, pollination, and the ecological importance of fruit meadows. "We want to show how much diversity grows right on our doorstep and why it is worth preserving," says Norbert Eder.
