Scherer Mühlsteinbruch

The first "Perger Stainprecher" were mentioned in 1391 AD. In 1582, Emperor Rudolf II confirmed the craft regulations of the Perger Mühlsteinbrecher (millstone breakers), which remained in effect until 1859. However, the profession of millstone breaker gradually died out after the First World War. The current open-air facility, which was made accessible again in 1988, shows the remains of a formerly large quarry. Coming from the A1 from Salzburg, Passau and Linz, take the Asten exit; coming from Vienna, leave the motorway at the St. Valentin exit and follow the signs to Perg. On the Donaubundesstraße (B3), take the Perg Mitte exit and drive into the city center. For registered groups, the meeting point for guided tours is at the Hauptplatz.
