What's it about?

Edda ThürriedlParticipation fee: 40 Euroincl. material (linoleum plates, carving tools, paper, printing ink and various other aids)Registration required: edda.thuerriedl@gmail.comSelf-carved and printed Christmas cards and gift tags will be made in this workshop. If you want to send a truly individual Christmas card this year, or decorate your gifts with personal gift tags, then this workshop is exactly right for you.The Christmas motif is the ideal introduction to the technique of linocut and linoprint.artistic craftLinocut is a graphic technique that works with the relief printing process and is in principle similar to woodcut. As in woodcut, a negative pattern is cut into the normally relatively firm linoleum plate with special tools. The material can be cut easily and in any direction. The finished negative pattern is rolled with ink and then printed on paper (Source: Wikipedia).Implement your ideaWhat to bring to this 3-hour workshop is a rough motif idea for a gift card, optionally also gift tags or something suitable for both (complexity depending on existing linocut skills, the simpler the faster the plate cutting is done).Optional: A single-color gift bag for printing (available at mük). The oil-based printing inks also hold very well on cotton.Process:1st hour: Finalize motif and transfer to the linoleum plate2nd hour: Carving3rd hour: Printing (without press, by hand)About the Workshop LeaderLinocut, or Linocut as it is called today, is the passion of workshop leader Edda Thürriedl. After intensively dealing with typographical questions in her master's thesis during her art history studies and having previously attended the New Design University Course in St. Pölten, she can refer to a solid background. In general, art shapes the life of the native of Freistadt. Her spectrum ranges from museum supervision to finance her studies, to working in the press department of the Belvedere, to her current full-time job as project assistant for artistic and research projects at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
