Philosophers in the Pigsty The worker who speaks with the wisdom of a philosopher. Words embrace you and rattling you see a black and white film flicker in your soul. And then you hear the rainbow! We follow into suburbs, long-closed cafes, junkyards… Francois Villon staggers with Qualtiger into the next bar, singing Tom Waits. Charles Bukowski sits in the corner and finds love where no one expects it. A Sergio Leone Western with authentic loners, more truthful than everyday life. Shots fall that are only kisses. No dead, only life. There's nothing whiny about it, because that's irrelevant. Bananz's characters seem to jump out of a film. Through the description of the smallest details and characteristics, they become plastic and tangible. Not least the irony and the uncovering of some of his characters' quirks provide for a laugh or two. The evening swings with lightness between Wienerlied and cabaret. The singer accompanies himself on the guitar. Press reviews: ...after not even two bars you ask yourself, with and without looking: Since when does Tom Waits sing in Austrian?... Franz J. Sauer - Wiener ...mangy Strizzisoul like Percy Sledge howled with leftover grease, but also Balkan Country and Western... Fritz Ostermayer - FM4 ...his bluesy-rough voice sounds like Tom Waits from Mühlviertel... Whiny moods never arise, which is also due to the fiery band... Natural genius or hard-won art, no matter, Philosophers in the Pigsty is a furious album... Sebastian Fasthuber - Falter ...the musician and songwriter with a voice that reveals a highly sensitive being between dirt and urgency...a true original... Reinhold Gruber - OÖ Nachrichten ...ballad singing, Bob Dylan guitar, stylistically somewhere between chanson, soul and rock ballad, that's this music...no bass and three brass players, that sounds great... Samir Köck - die Presse ...(the) songs are about losers, failures, uprooted people, doubters, simpletons and overestimators. Thus somehow a little bit about all of us.... A refreshingly unusual, philosophically bizarre project.... Dietmar Hoscher - Concerto
