With the concert program "In the Mood for Christmas," Austrian jazz singer Karin Bachner takes audiences into a world full of sparkle, warmth, and emotion. Each song is a sparklingly wrapped gift – for everyone who loves Christmas, and even for those who approach the holiday season with a wink. The title track "In the Mood for Christmas" – a self-composed earworm with an infectious Motown groove and winner of 2nd place in the USA Christmas Songwriting Competition 2025 – spreads festive energy and makes ears shine. Well-known classics appear in surprisingly fresh arrangements: "White Christmas" as a waltz dream, "Winter Wonderland" with salsa swing, "Last Christmas" as a swinging big-band hit. In addition to international evergreen songs like "Santa Baby," "Jingle Bells," and a jazzy version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You," there are also local favorites such as "Leise rieselt der Schnee" or "Es wird scho glei dumpa" – a charming bridge between Austrian tradition and international flair. Special highlights include two new interpretations of songs by the German a cappella cult band Maybebop, as well as a sensually seductive version of Tom Waits’ "Temptation." The romantic finale is "What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?" – a musical flirt at the turn of the year. The brilliant arrangements for the seven-piece Pocket Big Band are by the award-winning German jazz composer and arranger Tobias M. Hoffmann. The album "In the Mood for Christmas" was among the top Christmas albums in Germany in 2025, alongside those by Helene Fischer, Kylie Minogue, and Rae Garvey.
