Markus Poschner and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz open the grand Beethoven Year 2027 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's death with the culminating piece of his symphonic work: the 9th Symphony in D minor, which is considered both a pinnacle of the Classical era and a gateway to Romanticism — not only because of the revolutionary inclusion of choir and solo voices. Alongside the Hard-Chor and the Linzer Jeunesse Choir, four outstanding soloists will perform on the stage of the Great Hall in the Brucknerhaus Linz: Susanne Bernhard, Katrin Wundsam, Sebastian Kohlhepp, and Rafael Fingerlos. The New Year’s Concert and its repeat on January 2 are part of the Beethoven Cycle by Bruckner Orchestra Linz and Brucknerhaus Linz, which began with Symphony No. 7 during the Bruckner Festival 2025 and concludes on May 2, 2027, with a Sunday matinee featuring Symphonies No. 2 and 4.
