TANZ LINZ opens the season with the double evening Divine Matter. Two choreographic works from a feminine perspective that make the body a place of origin, change, and transmission. In Worship, a world premiere by American choreographer Drew Jacoby, divine femininity is negotiated not as a religious motif but as a physical experience. Jacoby works with archetypical female figures and approaches them through rituals, repetition, and collective presence. Music by Rosalía and Björk, as well as sound design by Crystn Hunt Akron, intensify the piece into an atmospheric experience of devotion to body, nature, and community. Auto Cannibal by Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake looks at the cycle of creative processes from the perspective of artists. In connection with music by Robin Fox, the work examines the reuse of choreographic materials: ideas are adopted, dismantled, transformed, and carried forward in the bodies of the dancers. Auto Cannibal understands reuse not as stagnation but as a prerequisite for renewal. Together, the two works unfold a dance evening about creation, transformation, and the ongoing becoming of meaning.
