Mariendom Experience

What's it about?

A look at the history of the building (ground floor) including a visit to the crypt. While you experience the impressive atmosphere of the large Neo-Gothic interior, you will learn details about the history of the Mariendom. Based on the magnificent painted windows, the cathedral's construction is described in detailed representation, the people responsible for the cathedral's construction around Bishop Franz Josef Rüdiger (cathedral builder) are portrayed, and connections to diocesan, city, and state history are made. In the crypt (Latin for "the hidden one"), you can visit the tombs of the deceased Linz bishops and the "foundation stone." Please note: The number of participants is limited. The meeting point for the tour is the DomCenter, located directly on Domplatz.
