Pippo Pollina embodies the singer-songwriter in the best sense: poetic songwriting blending Mediterranean melodies with political songwriting. Now, the Sicilian singer presents his solo program as a captivating retrospective on war, peace, and hope. Solo in Concerto combines timeless classics, new compositions, and musical rarities from Pollina's repertoire. The singer accompanies himself with piano and guitar, complemented by visual projections that trace his remarkable life journey: from Palermo in the 1980s, through his formative years as a street musician, to the major stages of Europe. In the second part of the evening, Elisa Sandrini joins him. With the singer, pianist, and accordionist, Pollina develops multi-layered versions of his songs. Thus, Solo in Concerto becomes a completely new experience – even for connoisseurs of his extraordinary work. Giuseppe Pollina, born in Palermo in 1963, began his career with the politically engaged folk group Agricantus. Simultaneously, he studied classical guitar and music theory. Later, he wrote for the investigative magazine I Siciliani before traveling through Europe as a street musician. Today, he is considered one of the defining singer-songwriters of his generation, with numerous albums and international tours. He is supported by the talented musician Elisa Sandrini, who regularly performs on European stages with various projects.
