That good food can be created not only in the kitchen but also exquisite music is demonstrated by Curtis Stigers with his Songs From My Kitchen, which he tested at his home stove and now brings to the big concert stage. It is still well remembered: During the pandemic when concert activities came to a halt, musicians became inventive and presented their art in unusual places. Curtis Stigers streamed a weekly concert from his private kitchen, which became an intimate stage for his relaxed songs accompanied only by guitar. Under the title Songs From My Kitchen, this internet concert series, which is very popular among his fans, has reached over 50 episodes. From the vast song repertoire of that time, Stigers has now released some selected gems on Songs From My Kitchen Vol. I – an album that, with its distinctive mix of Stigers’ own and cover songs, aims for an acoustic, minimal sound and flirts with blues and folk. The singer and saxophonist Curtis Stigers achieved a worldwide top-ten hit in 1991 with I Wonder Why and has been successful in the pop genre since then. In the 2000s, he increasingly turned to jazz and has now reinvented himself as a singer-songwriter.
