Tonkünstler - Tschaikowski/Smetana/Janácek
What's it about?
An evening full of dramatic images and open emotions: Christian Arming spans a range from Slavic legendary power to Tschaikowski's luminous virtuosity. After his highly acclaimed substitute performance with Mahler's Ninth Symphony in 2024, Christian Arming returns to the podium of the Tonkünstler orchestra. This time, he leads deep into the Bohemian-Moravian sound world. Bedřich Smetana's Šárka, as part of Mein Vaterland (My Homeland), unfolds an archaic legend about power, seduction, and violence. Leoš Janáček's Taras Bulba tells the fate of a Ukrainian Cossack leader through eruptive musical images. Between these dramatic stories, Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowski's Violin Concerto provides a luminous counterpoint. Simone Lamsma, celebrated as a soloist at the Festival Hall St. Pölten in 2025, brings to the virtuosic work a blend of brilliance and intimacy that has made it a perennial favorite. She collaborates with renowned conductors and performs with leading orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony, and the Sydney Symphony. Christian Arming is one of Austria's most sought-after conductors, impressing in both symphonic and operatic fields with precision and expressiveness. He regularly works with top orchestras and conducts opera productions from the Salzburg Festival to Tokyo.
