In his first published collection of poems, "Loveletters - Mutwillige Liebesergüsse," the celebrated actor, singer-songwriter, and entertainer Stefan Jürgens reveals himself as a hopeful romantic who fearlessly confronts the trench warfare of the sexes with the wonder of love. Here, love is celebrated and elevated to the ultimate formula for happiness - a breath of fresh air in often dark times and a nightlight of hope. In his reading performance "Nenn' es Liebe" (Call it Love), Jürgens now lets all manifestations of love pass before us. We feel its healing power as well as its destructive rage, revel in its uninhibitedness, and witness its willingness to sacrifice. Here stands an artist on stage who is very familiar with the lowlands of everyday existence and yet does not shy away from the greatest emotions. His hymns to life touch and seduce his audience into confidence and zest for life. Great poets of world literature show us the many faces of love, as different as they could be. And yet they all consistently attest to the same thing: love is not negotiable. And not to be confined by rules. It survives under the most barren conditions and is not to be subjected to any compulsion. Love makes us who we are. It is all that matters.
