KulturCuvée - Vaclav FUKSA & Bryan BENNER: "Songs of Travel"
What's it about?
The duo Václav Fuksa (guitar, vocals) and Bryan Benner (vocals, guitar, shakuhachi) builds an unusual bridge between folk song and art song. The two modern troubadours combine virtuosity with intimacy, humor with seriousness – carried by great respect for classical tradition and at the same time with a subtle wink.With their own moderation, passion and wit, they lead into the world of song. After a celebrated trilogy of Neapolitan song albums, Benner and Fuksa are now dedicating themselves to their new project "Songs of Travel". Selected songs from Vaughan Williams' cycle of the same name, which some call the British "Winterreise", will be performed in their own arrangements. The program is complemented by Schubert songs in new versions, forgotten Moravian folk songs and John Dowland – partly sung in two voices and enriched by the poetic voice of the Japanese shakuhachi flute, which unfolds a special depth in this unusual line-up. An evening that shows the song in new colors – familiar and yet full of discoveries! Admission: free donation
