Great Wilderness in the Smallest National Park

Great Wilderness in the Smallest National Park

Sunday 4 October · 09:00Thayabrücke Hardegg · niederoesterreich

What's it about?

Our traditional Austrian-Czech hike takes us into the quiet zone in the west of the national park. Passing by the Frainer Lusthaus, a relic of a historic landscape garden, we walk through a wild forest landscape where steep rocks dramatically rise into the sky and reward us with breathtaking views of the winding course of the Thaya River. The two national park staff members, Julian Haider from Austria and Petr Lazárek from the Czech Republic, provide exciting insights into the natural beauty of this unique area. They talk about the 'rewilding' of the national park, how nature is continually reclaiming its space here, and share information about cross-border projects that strengthen the protection of this valuable ecosystem. Meeting point: Thayabrücke Hardegg, joint transport to the starting point of the hike. Duration: approximately 6 hours. Cost: €21 for adults. Prompt registration is recommended, limited number of participants! Bilingual excursion (German/Czech).
