Vivaldi: Four Seasons Concert
What's it about?
The Karlskirche in Vienna - 'St. Karl Borromäus' - is considered the most important sacred building north of the Alps. It was built on the orders of Emperor Charles VI starting in 1716 after the last major plague epidemic and was completed in 1737. In 1741, Antonio Vivaldi was buried directly at the Karlskirche. Until 1918, it served as an imperial patronage church. Today, authentic concerts are performed in the Karlskirche by the orchestra 1756, which plays on original instruments, along with its soloists. Our traditional performances of Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' are now widely known for their high artistic quality and lively interpretation.
