What's it about?

Richard, ugly and deformed, wants to become a villain. His goal: to gain the crown and, through it, absolute power. To this end, he goes over dead bodies and kills family members and confidants, free of empathy or moral concerns. Surrounding him, the disfigured, are the eroticism of power and the fascination of evil: Shakespeare created one of the greatest seducers of theatrical literature in 1593 with Richard III., a scheming politician and cynical Machiavellian, a ruler whose intellectual and political heirs continue to wreak havoc to this day. Directed by Wolfgang Menardi. Set design: Wolfgang Menardi. Costumes: Katrin Aschendorf. Composition/Sound Installation: Daniel Nerlich. Lighting: Marcus Loran. Dramaturgy: Thomas Jonigk. Cast: Nicholas Ofczarek, Sarah Viktoria Frick, Dorothee Hartinger, Katharina Lorenz, Dörte Lyssewski, Sylvie Rohrer.
